: Please don't take this the wrong way but I just finished reading the Two Towers again and it seems to me like there were some homosexual undertones in Frodo and Sam's relationship. For example the way they would lay in each others arms and there was a time where Sam looked adoringly at Frodo's face and thought how much he loved him. Sounded more like lust to me. Now maybe I'm offbase here but in the days of evangelists and Tele-Tubbies nothing is safe. Tell me I'm crazyIt is the great pity of the modern world that love and sexuality have become synonymous. The ancient Greeks drew a sharp distiction between erotic love and the concept of "Agape." Which was later adopted by the Christian Church as embodying spiritual love. It seems to me that it is self evident that very strong bonds of love can exist with no sexual content, as between parent and child. Why cannot Frodo and Sam have a similarly deep attachement without sexuality playing any part?
