Also, remember the length of life here. In the real world people die in a relatively short time, there are no people around who spoke latin when it was still spoken and was "alive". In the case of elves, it doesn't "evolve" into other languages because elves basically live forever. Elves like Ingwë have been around for at least hundreds of thousands of years, maybe more, they aren't going to start changing the language mid-way through life. I think that has a big part to the whole problem. Jon
