Did you know that C.S.Lewis dedicated his book *The Screwtape Letters* to J.R.R.Tolkien? Does anybody know whether this was in recognition for Tolkien's contribution in his conversion to Christianity, or just a friendly gesture.Dis Tolkien ever reciprocate this gesture? Also, from reading Carpenter's Tolkien biography, one gets the impression that the Lewis/Tolkien relationship seems to have been rather one way. Lewis admired Tolkien and his work, and sometimes borrowed themes (such as his *Numinor*), whereas Tolkien seems to have shown little admiration for anything Lewis published.
