: No, the Ainur could not die in a manner that they would no longer exist. Even Sauron still existed in some form after the destruction of the ring, as Gandalf the White said it "...becoming a mere spirit of malice that gnaws itself in the shadows, but cannot again grow or take shape." And I think we should take Gandalf's word on this.I heard somewhere that Sauron could one day serve as the envoy or servant to another Dark Lord one day, but could never again be great.How far wrong am I?
