The music is going to be an original score (classical) not folk or celtic. i believe i heard rumors of an orchestra in new zealand allready running through some of it for peter jackson

: : Celtic music is already often used to put Tolkien songs to, and works very well. Some of the adaptations available are very good, and capture the spirit of Middle Earth completely. I think the filmmakers should check these out carefully before bringing in some so-called professionals who will make some commercial rubbish which fails to come close to this (ask commercial professional musicians invariably do, because they fail to grasp the *spirit* of what they are portraying). Remember, this film is likely to affect how many people imagine Middle-earth, and the songs and tunes chosen are likely to become 'official'.

: I don't know about you, but the thought of a movie trailer for LOTR that says "featuring the music of (insert names of commercially popular musicians)" makes me cringe. Not that I have anything against commercially popular muscians, mind you.

: Thinking of music or musicians other than Celtic, perhaps maybe Vangelis. I remember the sound track he composed and performed for Chariots of Fire. Which in my opinion was outstanding and captured the spirit of the story. His works, especially the earlier ones, often evoke in me that feeling of another time,
: another place,another world. John Williams of Jaws,StarWars etc. would also be up to the task, I belive.
