: [major snip]

: : Not only "first world countries" have scrapped the Death penalty.
: : Many African and Asian developing countries do without it aswell. (I am a South African, myself...the
: death penalty was scrapped here five or six years ago.)

: Of course. Sorry if I implied otherwise. I didn't mean to imply that every developing country ("the third
: world" is something of an out-of-date description, i feel) is a barbaric nation. Absolutely not. (You could
: say I'm intimately familiar with the abolition of the death penalty in S.A. I used to compare the racism of
: the justice system and the death penalty in aparteid South Africa to that in the US.

Many Americans and south Africans don't understand how closely related the systems of segregation were. If you look at them closely it is amazing how similar they were.

After apartheid was
: demolished, and the dp abolished, I was happy to announce that the comparison was no longer valid.
: ;) )

: Sorry for any misunderstanding.

No problem. It just irritates me when people generalize about "1st & 3rd world countries" when they don't have a clue what they're talking about. I can see now that you do know what's potting.
