: I've read all of the Narnia books except Silver Chair and the Last Battle, The Hobbit and most of the first book in LOTR. I'm not sure if this qualifies me as a "newbie" 'cuz I just discovered this site I mean how much of an expert do you have to be? Do you have to have read a certain # of these books before your opinions are taken seriously. However I love these books and would love to participate in your discussions so I hope you'll give me a chance...IMO everyone is welcome here, the debates take place on all levels of sophistication, Martin and Michael tend to be on a very high level, and there are people here who have forgotten more about Tolkien than most alleged experts have yet learned. However, everyone can contribute, and though I myself can seem highheaded, haughty and arrogant as well as overbearing, there are no stupid questions or opinions as long as you can build your case.
