: what is the source of your distinctive "handle:"
I wanted to get the meaning of "Laughing Bear" (I've alays loved Native American names) but I couldn't find 'laughing' in any Sindarin word corpus so I went with 'beren'='joyous' and 'brôg'=bear. My transormation of the final n of beren to m is based on the fact that oftetimes, in linguistics, an n before a b is pronounced m. (try saying 'on behalf' five times fast and you'll see what I mean). It's all Sindarin, by the way.

: In any event, I like non-canonical "extensions" of the ME mythos, as long as they are in the same spirit as JRRT, and I keep in mind that they are speculative, non-canonical: can you name any of these websites?

I don't know. I feel that there should be some sort of authority who gives his/her blessings to this sort of thing. Or else chaos would reign supreme. As for the websites, I'll have to get back to you. I don't have my 'address book' with me at the moment.

Thanks for your views
