: there?I don't know enough about Catholicism to compare it to Tolkien's Elvish mysticism, but the Elves apparently prayed to the Valar much as Catholics pray to saints, seeking intervention on their behalf. They have a lot of hymns to Elbereth, for instance, of which two appear in THE LORD OF THE RINGS.
