Maybe my use of the word "modelled" is causing some confusion here. I did not mean to imply that the Gondorian crown looked like an Egyptian crown. Tolkien doesn't use that word, but he does compare it (in height) with the Egyptian crown. I was only trying to point out that it was not a small, skull-cap type of helm the Guards of the Citadel wore. By "Egyptian look and feel" I was thinking of the crown comparison.
