: Well, it's also because it's a David Day book. I'm sure the artwork is superb, but Day is possibly the worst source of information on Tolkien's world one could find.

Just an opinion on that...

The artwork in this book is the *worst* I have *ever* seen. It is almost so bad that I could have done it better - and that says *alot* ;) The dark tower look like a small factory, noldor-elves have itty bitty tiny heads, and Aragorn's eyes squint... I could go on and on. The artwork in this book is simply ridiculous, I just can't understand why it was incorporated in the encyclopedia.
