: : Could Imin, Tata, and Ened (the original leaders of the Elves) have been the same as Ingwe, Finwe, and Elwe?I don't think so. In fact, no. The mates of Imin, Tata, and Enel are given (Iminye, Tatie, and Enelye), and they certainly don't correspond with anything. Actually, their stories seem quite separate. The former 3 were merely awakened first, and were 'Elf-fathers', for the 3 Clans. The latter 3 were chosen by Orome as ambassadors, and later became kings. Although, I believe the 3 Clans sort of evolved into the 3 hosts. The 3 Clans existed before the Separation. Then came the split between Eldar and Avari. The 3 hosts were probably identical to the Eldar of each Clan. Possibly Tata and Enel remained as Avari. Imin must have chosen the March, because all the Minyar did. Maybe that is why we have the Inwir, a royal family within the Vanyar led by Ingwe, while Imin kept some kind of leadership role. Any other opinions?
