: I always thought it strange how grief stricken Melian was at the death of Thingol. Thingol went to the Halls of Mandos and Melian returned to Aman. Eventually Thingol would be let out and reimbodied. Couldn't the two have come together again and continued the marriage?Reincarnation among the Elves was not a forgone conclusion. To the best of my knowledge, Finrod and Glorfindel are the only two reincarnations which are documented - and in Glorfindel's case, even this is debatable.
