This thread has given me a good laugh, and a welcome one at that. It also draws some nice distinctions (albeit sarcastically) between what kind of medievalism we are talking about here. Something that hasn't been done quite clearly enough. I brought up the treatment of swords in the LOTR in an earlier message and was practically accused of turning Tolkien into a Dungeon Master! It is hard to separate medieval cultural and material ideas from popular opinions of Hollywood medievalism, but I hope we can get somewhere with this. If not, we can all get a great laugh out of picturing Aragorn in green tights!
