: : This thread has given me a good laugh, and a welcome one at that. It also draws some nice distinctions (albeit sarcastically) between what kind of medievalism we are talking about here. Something that hasn't been done quite clearly enough. I brought up the treatment of swords in the LOTR in an earlier message and was practically accused of turning Tolkien into a Dungeon Master! It is hard to separate medieval cultural and material ideas from popular opinions of Hollywood medievalism, but I hope we can get somewhere with this. If not, we can all get a great laugh out of picturing Aragorn in green tights!

: LOL. I've actually worried about that! But I dare say the Costume Designer will want to give the leading man in the film something stylish to wear. I'm not against stylish, but I hope it doesn't become as laughable as our posts.

HEAVEN FORBID! But if Aragorn is in tights I think that it will be a sign that the whole film is headed for disaster. Let us hope the costume people at least get those muddy boots right (the one item of clothing most associated with Aragorn I think, due to his initial description in the "Pony"). If he is wearing slippers turned up at the toe I may have to walk out of the theater! LOL
