Topic: Who would you cast?    Reply to: msg

We had a lot of discussion about particular people we would cast (e.g. Sauron), and (script issues asside) who would we cast as the major players for the movie: Frodo, Sam, Aragorn, Gandalf, Gimli, Legolas, et. al.? I don't want to limit the casting, so anyone living or dead will do fine!

Example:
Gandalf - Sir Sean Connery (I would love to hear him telling the story of the battle with the balrog)
Aragorn - Mel Gibson
Gimli - Arnold Swartzeneger (digitally "dwarfed" and with a beard!)
Legolas - Brandon Lee (no blond wig, just a good elf-warrior)
Boromir - Brenden Gleeson (from Braveheart fame)
Frodo - John Cusack (same digital "hobbiting" no beard ;))
Sam - Colm Meany (from Star Trek fame)
Saruman - Sir Laurence Olivier
Eowyn - Jeri Ryan (personal bias here)
Theoden - Sir Anthony Hopkins ("I will eat Grima's liver with a nice merlot and some fiva beans")
Galadrial - Gina Davis (personal bias again)
Denethor - Bruce Willis ("Yippee-ki-yi-ya Gandalf")

I just thought it would be fun to hear what other people think about who should "fit the bill".
