Hmm. I thought the same and posted this at the Ringbearer MB, but I had to stand corrected because someone prove that the Seven and the Nine indeed was made for the dwarwes and Men respectively and distributed by Annatar to these peoples BEFORE Ost-In-Edhil was sacked and Celebrimbor killed. It was only the Three that was pure Elven rings.

But it's right that the Three was made by Celebrimbor without "help" from Annatar. But when Sauron made The One he also became aware of the Three as well as the Elves became aware of The One Ring, giving them time to hide them from Sauron.

: I’ve been reading the archives and I came across a thread regarding the Rings of Power which raised some doubts in my mind as to the sequence of events. I am posting this just to see if I got everything straight:

: - the Seven and the Nine were made in Ost-in-Edhil by Celebrimbor and Sauron and they were made FOR THE ELVES to slow the passing of Time.

: - after Sauron left Eregion for Mordor, Celebrimbor forged the Three and Sauron forged the One. The Elves then hid the Three.

: - the War of Sauron and the Elves: after Sauron took Ost-in-Edhil, he found the Seven and the Nine AND THEN distributed them to Dwarves and Men respectively.

: Is all of the above correct?
: Cheers
