: Some interesting choices. How about Russel Mulcahy? He directed the first Highlander film(watch the directors cut) and The Shadow. He's got some great camera work and makes sure the special effects are a tool for the movie not a reason for the movie.


I love Tarantino's movies, but the feel I'm hoping for with this trilogy is epic, not hip. There's nothing hip about Tolkien, nor was there ever meant to be. The same comment would go for Tim Burton and Terry Gilliam, whose work I also admire.

I don't know Mulcahy. I enjoyed the first Highlander film when I was 12, but it didn't play so well when I saw it again at 30.
