: I don't know John Woo's movies. Can you give me one or two of his films which show he has the stuff to tackle the trilogy?

Certainly! He has recently finished work on Mission Impossible 2, prior to that he did Face Off (John Travolta and Nicolas Cage), Broken Arrow (John Travolta and Christian Slater). Prior to becoming a Hollywood name he did twenty or so films in Hong Kong, the most notable being The Killers and Hard boiled (both with Chow Yun Fat). I didn't really mean him as a serious candidate for the position, but he does have some great vision and depth that hasn't really been tapped yet.
