: : I read with interest the thread below entitled ‘Who would you cast’ and I was struck by a comment made by Wibstap who would have had Michael Dorn play Ugluk. That led me to consider how the Orcs should be portrayed in the movie. If we are to accept (and I believe this generally to be the case) that the Orcs are the result of Elves deformed by Morgoth, then we must also presume that their facial structures should be (generally speaking) humanoid i.e. without fangs. Then how would this deformation be depicted? Perhaps with a series of ridges on a raised forehead? I think we all know of a famous race of warriors who, at least in my mind, could perfectly incarnate the physical essence of Orkishness (sans all the honor and it-is-a-good-day-to-die spiel). : Any ideas? : Live long and prosper : Berembrôg Minor point, but I think Tolkien specifically mentions orcs having fangs (but doesn't describe much beyond that, so how big?) when Merry & Pippin are being dragged across Rohan. Beyond that I agree with you: definite similarities between the Klingons of Star Trek (excepting the more human ones of the original series) and orcs. Certainly Dorn would do well in such a role. Worf is one of my favorite characters. -Steve S.
