It is possible that they were corrupted but that would be tough for sauron....or morgoth for that matter to do because they were madeto withstand the intrigue of darkness.I think they lived in the Red Mountains. I also think that they were more reclusive than the other Dwarves, never really entering history. Well, the West's history. I wouldn't be surprised if they had dealings with any human ond Avari peoples in the far reaches of the Rhun.
