: I don't think he actually got more powers. Maybe Eru let Olorin use more of his Maiar powers than he was allowed to as Gandalf the Grey.

I believe he did u know. The sacrifice of himself in order to save others spiritually enhanced him, just like Glorfindel was spiritually enchanced after having sacrificing himself to save Tuor and co in the Fall of Gondolin. And therefore became more powerful in the process.
