Hi - I'm a new person here - anyway, I've read all the responses regarding this post and I agree with most of you. It seems that most Tolkien sites these days are engaging in bickering and moaning and groaning over a movie no one has even seen yet. Enough already! The beauty of the LotR is in Tolkien's glorious use of the English language and his ability to touch on so many human (in the greater sense) situations. We all respond to it in our own way, and we all find resonance in different parts of the story for our own reasons. Jackson's movie is just one more interpretation and will be interesting in its own right. His work will not diminish Tolkien's in any way.
