: BerembrôgI think that Tolkien himself seems not to have been sure whether Eol was a Sinda, related to Thingol, an Avar (I think even an Avar Noldo) or just a Sinda without any special relations. I believe that in the end he decided that he was one of the Sindar. I am not too sure about these things, but I believe, that Christopher Tolkien treats the matter quite thoroughly in the War of The Jewels (which you mentioned).
