: : nomenclature? : I have no idea. I've never heard of the Field of Arbol before. I haven't read the books for some time but I believe the phrase was used by Lewis in describing the Solar System. There was something about the Eldils appearing to stand perpendicular to the plane of the Solar System irrespective of local planetary gravity. Not until I saw your post did I notice the similarity of Arbol with Arda. As Lewis used Tor and Tinidril in Perelandra the similarity is suggestive of influence.
