All right. This has been a really long discussion, but I think you all have missed something. (or is it me?)
Gandalf arrived in ME about the year 1000 in the third age right?
That means he has been in Aman 2500 years approximately since the ring was created right?
In Aman you wold get some news from ME on the war etc. right?
So while in Aman, Gandalf would probably talk to Aüle during those 2500 years, right?
They would probably talk abot the war in ME and about the rings, right?
Wouldn't Gandalf ask Aüle about the ring and how it was made?
Wouldn't then Aüle tell Gandalf that the rest of Saurons power would leave him if the ring was destroyed?
Wouldn't Gandalf remember that as the best way to destroy Sauron?
Wouldn't Gandalf tell Elrond, Galadriel, Frodo, etc. about this way?
Asuming Sauron knew that the destruction of the ring would destroy him, but was sure nobody would do that, mesuring hearts after desire.
Wouldn't that solve the problem, or am I completely wrong?
