As a matter of fact, Gandalf seemed to be the only one of the order with significant combatant skills. Radagast wouldn't exactly strike fear in any ones heart I don't think, unless they were birdaphobics... Saruman exhibited the ability to trap Gandlaf, but I personally believe that was through mechanical means in Isengard. He certainly displayed nothing besides mind manipulation when meeting Theoden.Agreed that the Maiar had widely variable abilities. Radagast would not necessarily have been able to openly battle the Nine, but I feel certain that he was not defenseless against them. As for Saruman, Gandalf flatly stated that he still possessed the power to withstand the Nine, and possibly to capture one while in Orthanc.
