Someone sais before about Orcs being on an equal with men when it came to martial ability ( don't remember who or where... ).
Problem is is that when Pippin and Merry are kidnapped by the Orcs ( about 2-3 hundred of them I think, according to Unfinished Tales) they were rounded up and finished off by only Eomers eored of just over a hundred men. And if memory serves me correctley ( doubtful) weren't they further reinforced by 'manhur and his lads' from Isengard?
So surely this means Orcs weren't as good as men when it came to fighting - or maybe it was just sarumans Orcs - perhaps he got them at a Baradur second hand troop sale...
