My idea is: there was more than one Mouth of Sauron. They acted as the same person, and when it is said that he/they had forgotten his/their name, they had put it behind them and ceased to think of themselves as themselves but as as the last Mouth.

: What do you all think?

Makes sense, except that Sauron was off stage most of the Third Age, so why would he need a mouth. Wouldn't at all when he was busy reconstructing himself, and then hunting around for a base from which to make mischief. When passing himself off as just another sorceror, the Necromancer, what role would a herald serve. No, there probably was only one MOS, and he took the job shortly after Sauron made his official reappearance, and is probably no older than Aragorn.
