: Just a quick question to anyone who might have an answer: Is the song "Ramble On' by Led Zepplin in reference or based on one of Tolkien's works? If so which one and could you please give some details? Are there any other songs that were inspeird by his works?

"Misty Mountain Hop" is another possible Tolkien reference. The Misty Mountains were part of Tolkien's imagined geography. I think Led Zep put in the Tolkien stuff more for effect and mood. The line about Gollum stealing the narrator's girl in "Ramble On"
is not directly from the story. It's more of an inventive phrase to describe the situation. Sort of like saying "I was in the depths of hell when I met a nice girl, but Satan stole her away".

It's easy to go overboard and assume connections that don't exist. Check out this website for an example:
