: Can anyone tell me anything about this being, lieutenant of Minas Morgul? I have read two differing explainations, one that he is a Ringwraith, the other that he is a living man. What do you all think?

I think it likely that he was some kind of cunning, intelligent Olog-hai. Mainly because I don't think anything else would have been dumb/tough enough to take on such a name. And trolls were the toughest that Sauron had for his armies.

But I'm probably being influenced far too much by ICE.
