: : -Foradan: I started reading the Norwegian translation and read the English original several years later. The Norwegian was not so "heavy" on language, but there were no major difference. Most of the names were the same, some actually makes more sense in Norwegian like dwarf names witch are based on old norse names like Thror-Thor(the god)-Tor.(witch is a common Norwegian name)
: I might also add that the translator (Torstein Bugge Høverstad) recieved several prizes for his translation.
: Kano I myself have read the dutch translation before I read the English version. Even before I'd read the english version I thought it was a masterpiece, but after reading the english I discovered the thru masterpiece. The translation in dutch now seems really terrible to me, all of the names sound pretty terrible. Also some of the pieces are completely misunderstood by the translaters and therefore transleted completely wrong. Although the translaters did do one hell of a job (translating such a book) I rather read the english version. lockdar
