: I see quite a bit of discussion on Orcs and their nature - what are Worgs?
: If a Worg is truly more of an animal than a monster, then if someone(good or evil) raised it from birth, it will trust him/her. If it is more of a monster like Trolls and orcs, then they are truly unredeemable and the most merciful treatment of them is to slaughter them all.

: I'm wondering since Worgs and Worg-Riders in the Hobbit are definatively one of the more interesting enemy troop types in the LoTR universe. In many fantasy games today, I know of many players who will play Orks or the evil side just so they can have Worg-Riders. They are "cool", whatever that means.

As presented in The Fellowship of the Ring, wargs were evil spirits that assumed the form of large wolves. They were corporeal enough to be wounded or killed by normal weapons, but when 'killed' the bodies would disappear (I have no idea what happened to their 'spirits'). They were distinct from the were-wolves of The Silmarillion which were evil spirits (such as Draugluin and Carcharoth) that possessed the bodies of normal (i.e., living) wolves.
