: I think we can make a good guess at the merchandising. Along with the inevitable give-aways at fast food places and the new movie action figures to go along with action figures that already exist, we will probably see special film editions of the books (hard & paperback), the official comic (graphic novel) of the film, some new hobbity games for the kiddies and a re-issue of some of the previous LOTR games. Of course, there will be the official LOTR calendar for 2002. Oh, don't forget to get your new LOTR checks.: I have several friends who have read LOTR, but only one has shown any real interest in the new films. The rest have a 'oh that's nice' attitude. Do we really think these films will make ot to the Fast Food level? I am not sure that they will be that overwhelmingly successful, for the precise reasons mentioned earlier. Maybe they will. . . but we shll see.
