We all want to put our two cents worth into a discussion, but sometimes do we really need to do so? Often we don't take the time to read all the posts in a string (a daunting task on some strings). I'm guilty of this, and have ended up saying something that has already been said.

When a string begins to veer away from the subject, nine times out of ten we will follow. I know it's hard to avoid, but how often do we make a concious decision not to follow. All to often, I find myself tagging along and helping an off-subject string continue to grow.

Some mention has been made of asking questions that have already been asked in times past. I've done this myself. I know the archives exist, and I have tried to find the answer to a question using them. Roaming thru the archives is itself a daunting task that doesn't always end in success. I for one don't like the thought of someone new to board asking an old question, and being told to look it up in the archives. In the end, there is now way to control what questions are asked.

If we use a bit of descretion, we could make maintaing this board just a bit easier, and perhaps avoid a change in format. Anyway, those are my thoughts.~Aelmer
