: We all know that Michael and the other board admistrators are working their tails off updating and archiving this board. Maybe we can make their lives a bit easier.: We all want to put our two cents worth into a discussion, but sometimes do we really need to do so? Often we don't take the time to read all the posts in a string (a daunting task on some strings). I'm guilty of this, and have ended up saying something that has already been said. : When a string begins to veer away from the subject, nine times out of ten we will follow. I know it's hard to avoid, but how often do we make a concious decision not to follow. All to often, I find myself tagging along and helping an off-subject string continue to grow. : Some mention has been made of asking questions that have already been asked in times past. I've done this myself. I know the archives exist, and I have tried to find the answer to a question using them. Roaming thru the archives is itself a daunting task that doesn't always end in success. I for one don't like the thought of someone new to board asking an old question, and being told to look it up in the archives. In the end, there is now way to control what questions are asked. : If we use a bit of descretion, we could make maintaing this board just a bit easier, and perhaps avoid a change in format. Anyway, those are my thoughts.~Aelmer I, and I am sure that most (if not all) of us have the same intentions, but it would not be as much of a natural conversation if we don't meander just a little bit. Perhaps we could make maintaining the board easier by typing more in every post, and making less posts... or by finishing up old conversations more often, leaving less open, making following them easier. In my opinnion, I think that deleting old posts instead of archiving them would go over better than changing format (by far). I am also sure that if bad goes to worse, and the format is changed, people will continue to post and read... the advantage with this format is that everything new is right there (UBBS is split up in such depth that it is seemingly impossible to keep up with). As far as I can tell, there are two ways that we can throw in our two cents in to easier upkeep: 1. We could post less, but with more content. 2. We could keep as few threads open as possible. (sorry about being repeditive) Old questions reasked can spark insight and more fully answer the question... My previous post was not intended to be an annoying reasked question (in any case that it might have been), I was merely opening an alternative thread of the movie.
