: Hmmm somehow i dont think it was the same Glorfindel, tho i was a bit freaked too when i first read it... actually there are a ton of characters that have their names 'repeated' thru the ages if you like to read all that stuff. Cant remember any now but trust me :): cyas, Jag I believe in PoME that Tolkein confirms that it is the same Glorfindel, if not its in his letters.
Glorfindel died in the first age, was reembodied in the Halls of Mandos and was sent back in the second age to help fight Sauron (I think)
