: : : : Another major problem is that you (we) would have knowledge that we should not have. Imagine how Gandal,Elrond etc. would react to some stranger who know just as much, if not more, than they did. I wouldn't want to find myself in that position, would you?: : That would be great. Imagine the expression on Gandalf's face when you would say: " Hey Olorin, let me try that Narya, so that : : I can defeat the Balrog in Moria". Of course You would probably be dead before you finished the sentence. : Some good points were raised regarding having knowledge. I hadn't really planned to have "knowledge" of the events, so much as I had just thought about getting to Middle-Earth and what problems I might have in gaining the trust of the people there. : As for being under Tolkien's will, I was pretending that Middle-Earth was a real place under the real sun. But I do understand the concept. At any rate I still maintain that just jumping into the story without even dressing for the occaission might get the natives all upset. So I wouldn't run off to Middle-Earth "like a shot", but would want to take time to gather some provisions (just in case) and be armed against the possibility that things may not go according to my wishes. Connetticut (SP?!??) Yankee all the way! It would be a lot of fun, but you'd probably end up as dead as a very dead thing. Imagin it. You know every nuance of Middle-Earth history. (Well, some of us would!) You have the knowledge that is soooo deep, that supposed "lore-masters" wouldn't be able to touch. You know just as much, if not more than Gandalf. Your knowledge of people, or actions, of ways of thinking would make you invaluable to plotting any kind of war against Sauron. As for the story changing as soon as you arrived, well, yes, but you have all the knowledge of past events, and also the "alternative future", that I'm sure you'll be able to make highly rational decisions. But still, you'd be killed pretty quick I'd say. Those Dunedain were pretty hardy fighters, and poor Halbarad didn't last long. Anyway, it would be cool for however long you lasted =) Gandalf
