: "Feanor was the mightiest in skill of word or hand, more learned than his brothers; his spirit burned as a flame. Fingolfin was the strongest, the most steadfast, and the most valiant. Finarfin was the fairest and the wisest of heart..."And yet, either a little earlier but I think it is after, it says how Feanor was the greatest of the eldar, and it goes on to list areas of his greatness that covers off just about everything, including strength of mind, of body, etc, etc. Oh it just goes on and on. Therefore, while the above statement kind of leans in Fingolfins favour, and indeed his battle with Morgoth, does, kind of, re-enforce his position, I still have a lingering doubt and I think Feanor may have been his superiour in battle too. After all Feanor stood up to multiple Balrogs. OK his was put down in the end, but MULTIPLE Balrogs, thats, just too gross. Ungoliant fled from them! But that's probably just my liking of Feanor getting in the way. Fingolfin probably was the thoughest Eldar in a scrap (if only just). Cheers Padster
