: : We disagree on some points. We also happen to look at the story differently, and I got side-tracked from making that point. Tolkien's books are there for us all to enjoy and to receive in whatever ways we feel best about. No one is wrong, no one is more right than anyone else, when it comes to how we each look at what we see.

: The whole point of this board is that we can discuss and exchange opinions even with people who hold different opinions to our own. I have on occasions come close to flaming people because I just couldn't see how somebody could subscribe to a certain interpretation which in my opinion was wrong. I hope I never flamed anybody outright, and if I did, I sincerely apologise. On this board there are people from different countries, religions, political backgrounds and so there are bound to be cultural differences. And quite apart from those cultural differences, we are all individuals and our brains are all wired slightly differently. When writing to this type of discussions, it's easy to take your toungue to your mouth and pour scorn over what you don't agree with. But please, let us restrain ourselves from abuse, and always try to consider what effects our words will have on others. Please, accept criticism, don't take it personally, and if you must answer back, use sound and civil arguments rather than flame. But please, let's keep dicussing! If this board sinks down to a council of agreers, I don't think I'll enjoy it any more.

I disagree completely with you. (Hey SMILE when I say that!)
