Wouldn't he therefore warn or tell radagast if he thought he was straying away from his mission ( to prevent another saruman? Ok, radagast perhaps didn't want to be a power but still could have been a strong influence) doesn't it say somewhere that radagast was gandalfs friend? So wouldn't gandalf help him? Just a thought.
