: wouldn't gandalf have had some knowledge ( epecially after his return) about radagasts function and purpose? Wouldn't he therefore warn or tell radagast if he thought he was straying away from his mission ( to prevent another saruman? Ok, radagast perhaps didn't want to be a power but still could have been a strong influence) doesn't it say somewhere that radagast was gandalfs friend? So wouldn't gandalf help him?
: Just a thought.I think Gandalf had more pressing matters to deal with upon returing to Middle-earth than worrying about what Radagast was doing. As far as Gandalf was aware, Radagast was still one of the 'good guys'.
