: : interesting question, but ....: : when Gollum was dancing with the ring, it was still on Frodo's finger, albeit severed from the rest of Frodo, but technically he was still wearing it as it was on his finger. : : this could be analgous to Beren's hand being inside the wolf (whatever it was called) but still holding the Silmaril. : : so Frodo was technically still wearing the ring and so may still have had some (reduced) power due to it, which did not cease until his finger was boiled by the fire down below. : : just a thought ... : I see your point, but could Beren use the power of the Silmarill while it was in the Wolfs belly? : Does anybody know? : Maglor Hey Maglor, Frodo screws up and still gets to party down in Aman, you are still hanging about after thousands of years all because the Valar can't handle the elves making their own choices, sucks doesn't it?? Yes, Frodo failed, pure and simple, he is not a particularly good character to empathise with either, what if one of the other Hobbits had got hold of the ring - Sam wanted to be a great gardener, what of Pippin the ring lord - the greatest smoking, beer swilling Took of all time? Or Merry the ringlord and his baths of doom?? Don Q
