: Don QAnd what did Frodo say the HE would do were he the Ringlord? ;) I do not think that Frodo's fauilure is either pure or simple. He did succeed in brining the Ring, through great peril, to the Crack of Doom--no small task. And it can be strongly argued that the compassion and mercy he showed Gollum--when others, like Sam, would have slain the wretch--allowed for the destruction of the Ring. Failure and success cannot be measured by the basic question of, "Did he personally throw the ring in?" At least, that is my thought on the matter. I suggest you look above at a few messages in the other branch of this thread if you want to read a little more on this.
