: just below someone mentioned that one of the nazgul (the witch king) could have been a numenorean. Is this true and from where? Would he then have some of the foresight given to that people as well as the other 'gifts' compared to ordinary mortal men? Is that why he was so powerful, or just purely down to his ring???

Three of the Nine were Numenoreans apparently. Probably in the History of ME books somewhere. Khamul the number two was an Easterling.
