: Balrogs as above... but there was also dragons... not to mention the werewolves (like the one that bit off Beren's hand...grrrr.)

The 'thing' that bit off beren's hand was a breed of wolf, not werewolf. The orcs were the brunt of his strength, I would rather fight the Balrogs and dragons than all of the orcs of Morgoth... there were just so many of them. (notice that most of the battles lasted around six or seven days?!?)
