Why is it so important for smaug to be decending from anything?
The balroc in Moria was an "escaped convict" from the Last Battle. Inhabited by some maiar spirit. I deem that the same was the case with dragons ei. they could talk, and so on!
Have anybody everybody heard of an old or aged dragon? The were in my mind just as immortal as any other maiar spirit!
Who knows if Smaug actually fought and later escaped the fall of thrangorodrim?Cheers - Telchar
