: The road to Sauron's forges was was always kept in repair, so I assume he occasionally used the place. What might he have worked on? I suppose he was likely to have forged the wolf-head of Grond at Sammath Naur, but I can think of little else. Perhaps the other siege engines that were used against Minas Tirith were partly his handiwork too, since their performance was better than anything (I believe) even modern engineering could come up with (flinging heavy projectiles over a very high wall from a distance beyond bowshot). So, let your imaginations fly, what did Sauron make in his forges? Weapons for himself? Bolts and hinges for the gates of Barad-Dur? Mechanical toys which could be scattered by the winged Nazgul and which would blow up when unsuspecting children picked them up? What else? : -ForadanPerhaps Sauron used the forges as a place of worship and sacrifice to Melkor. Just a thought. ~Aelmer
