Interesting points, but I beg respectfully to differ on a couple of issues. Just because he didn't recognize Aragorn does not mean he was completely ignorant of the Dunadan of the north. I am assuming that Saruman figured that they had been so reduced in numbers that they were of no account, and he probably would have been justified in assuming that the royal line had died out. Whether he connected the Rangers to the Dunadan is unknowable, but also perhaps unimportant. He probably figured that such small fry could be dealt with later. He was certainly no more obtuse than Gandalf, who didn't figure out that Saruman had turned to evil until a very late hour.
