Tolkien based his elves on a mixture of the European continent faery and the U.K Faery.. as they were different..

Some of the elves are very noble i guessu could say.. but u do have the outcast.. elves as well.. like the guy in the forest.. married Turgon's sister..i forgotten his name.. he was a elve.. living by himself.. a Dark Elf..
